Iran just threatened to cut the Gulf's internet cables
Donald Trump just threatened to hit Iran again.
And Iran just threatened to cut the internet.
Trump said it at a rally in Florida, about a day ago. His words: "We may do another little Epic Fury, or they'll agree." Epic Fury is the name of the US-Israeli bombing campaign against Iran that started back in February.
Hours before that, Tom Barrack, the US Ambassador to Turkey and Trump's special envoy to Syria and Iraq, was asked if the US could strike Iran this weekend. He said, "Could there be a strike this weekend? Absolutely." He also said the US isn't trying to remove Iran's government.
Then Trump got asked about Barrack's comments. And he said he didn't know anything about them.
On the other side, two senior Iranian security officials told Reuters, without giving their names, that Iran has plans ready to hit undersea internet cables in the Gulf if the US and Israel strike again. Three days ago, a top Iranian Revolutionary Guards official said Iran could target seven major cables running under the Strait of Hormuz.
That's everything we know.
