In Vyshhorod, rescuers pulled three people out of a house that got destroyed. Then they found a second child's body under the rubble.
Poland and Romania both scrambled jets to protect their own skies while this was happening. Nobody knows yet if anything actually crossed into their airspace.
Russia's Ministry of Defence says it hit everything it was aiming for, including the port at Izmail. It has said nothing about the people killed in Kyiv.
That's everything we know.
Why this mattersThis is the third night running that Russia has hammered Kyiv and the region around it.
The night before, Russia sent a similar mix of missiles and drones at two dozen locations. Ukraine brought down or suppressed most of them too.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine's President, says Russia has fired thousands of drones, bombs and missiles at Ukraine in the past week alone.
But here's what's actually new. It's not just the numbers.
Russia has mostly been using mass drone swarms to overwhelm Ukraine's defences. Now it's mixing in Zircon and Oniks missiles too. Those are built to sink warships at sea. And it just fired them at a landlocked capital, alongside its usual ballistic missiles.
So Russia isn't just sending more. It's sending its best alongside the swarm.
And here's the part that should worry everyone. American Patriot missile stocks in Europe are, in the words of US and NATO officials, "beyond critical". Patriots are one of the only systems that can reliably stop a ballistic missile.
So every night this happens, Ukraine has fewer interceptors left for the next one.
Poland and Romania scrambling their own jets shows how far this reaches. Both countries have done the same thing during earlier Russian strikes this month, after drones and debris crossed into their airspace before.
Russia still hasn't said a word about the deaths in Kyiv. All it has said is that it hit its targets, including the port at Izmail — a separate claim from what happened in the capital.
And Ukraine is hitting back. A Ukrainian drone attack hit Russia's Samara region overnight, an oil hub far from Moscow, damaging houses there.
Search operations were still going on in Vyshhorod at the last report. The toll from tonight is likely to climb.
