Iran's Foreign Minister just got Washington's answer on ending the war.

Abbas Araghchi met Qatari mediators in Doha overnight. They handed him the US response to Iran's seven-day ceasefire plan. He's heading to Tehran today to brief Iran's leadership on it.

So let's back up. Five days ago, Iran put this plan out in public. Four days ago, Donald Trump stood outside the White House and rejected it flat out. Now there's an actual written response sitting in Araghchi's hands.

And here's the interesting part. According to an Iranian official, the two sides aren't fighting about what's in the plan anymore. They're fighting about the order it happens in.

Think about what that means. Nobody's arguing about whether there's a ceasefire. Nobody's arguing about whether the Strait of Hormuz reopens, or whether sanctions get waived. Both sides have basically accepted the same framework. The fight now is just about who moves first.

So what's actually in Iran's plan? Araghchi laid it out at the UN Security Council five days ago. Seven days, start to finish. Days one to five are trust-building steps between Washington and Tehran. Day six, Iran reopens the Strait of Hormuz — the waterway that carried a fifth of the world's traded oil and gas before this war. Day seven, talks start on Iran's nuclear programme.

And what does Iran want in return for reopening that strait? Washington lifts its naval blockade on Iranian ports. Washington waives sanctions on Iranian oil. Washington releases about $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets. And a regional ceasefire, covering Lebanon and Yemen too.

So Iran wants the US to move first, or at least move early. Hormuz only reopens near the end. Trump sees it the other way round. Four days ago he said Iran wants to reopen the strait immediately because, in his words, they're losing so badly and America is winning.

That's Trump saying Iran should open the strait now — not on day six of a plan that gives Washington its concessions after the fact.
