America just told Iran to sign a deal or stop existing
Donald Trump just told Iran to sign a deal or stop existing.
He said it a few hours ago, on the South Lawn of the White House, heading out to Oklahoma.
Here's the line. He says quote "they won't exist any longer" if Iran doesn't sign what he calls a very fair deal.
So that's the American president putting a country's survival on the table. As a negotiating tactic.
And this war isn't new. The US and Israel started bombing Iran on 28 February 2026. Seven months ago.
There was a ceasefire. Trump signed it with Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran's President, in the middle of June. It lasted about three weeks. Then it fell apart. Iran says that's because America never actually lifted its naval blockade.
So last week, Iran tried again. It offered a new plan. Reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days. But only if America lifts the blockade, unfreezes Iran's assets, and drops its oil sanctions.
Trump said no.
His problem was that Iran's plan only opened what he called some aspects of the strait. Not all of it.
So Iran offered a partial reopening. Trump wants the whole strait, his terms, or nothing.
And he's already told us what nothing looks like.
He told Time magazine it's possible he resumes the bombing, maybe even intensifies it, once the midterm elections are done on 3 November. And it's not just talk for cameras. The Wall Street Journal reports he's told his own aides the same thing. Privately, he doubts Iran will meet his demands at all.
Here's the scale of it. Three US aircraft carrier strike groups could be in the Middle East by the end of this month. That's more than 20,000 sailors and Marines. An unusually big naval presence, even for this war.
