America just threatened Iran with a big blow and the midterm pledge is cracking
Donald Trump just threatened Iran with a big blow.
And six days ago, he promised no strikes before the midterms.
So here's what changed.
Trump spoke a few hours ago at a rally in Wasilla, Alaska. It's the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center. He was there for Senator Dan Sullivan, who's fighting to keep his seat against Democrat Mary Peltola.
And here's what he said, according to Israel's Channel 12, reported by Middle East Eye. Trump says quote "we're going to deal them a big blow" and quote "because we've had enough".
Fox News was at the same rally. They heard it differently. Their version has Trump saying the US is going to do a number on Iran, that Iran is just waiting to see what happens, and that the US has had it.
So two outlets, same rally, same message. Action against Iran is coming. But the exact words don't match. Neither quote has been confirmed word for word by a second source.
Now here's the reversal.
Six days ago, Trump posted on Truth Social that the US will not be attacking Iran at any time before the midterm elections on 3 November.
Before that post, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Axios and The Atlantic had all reported the Pentagon was told to prepare strike options on Iran. Options that could be used before the midterms.
One day ago, Axios reported something bigger. Citing two US officials, one Israeli official and a fourth source, Axios says Benjamin Netanyahu discussed resuming major combat operations against Iran with Trump. Timed before Israel's election on 27 October and the US midterms on 3 November.
A White House official denied that to Axios. They repeated Trump's pledge. No strikes before the midterms.
