Ukraine just offered Trump a trade for Patriot missiles
Ukraine just made Donald Trump an offer.
Stop hitting Russian oil refineries. For a whole month. If America sends Patriot missiles for that same month.
Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine's President, said it himself, on Fox News, in an interview that went out about a day ago.
And it lines up exactly with what Donald Trump has been demanding. He's told both Russia and Ukraine the same thing. Stop bombing each other's energy sites.
So Zelensky laid out two ways this could go.
Option one. Russia stops hitting Ukraine's power grid. Ukraine stops hitting Russian refineries back. Simple trade.
Option two. Russia doesn't stop. So instead, America sends Patriot missile systems. And Ukraine pauses the refinery strikes for a month while that happens.
Here's Zelensky, in his own words.
Zelensky says quote "give us Patriot missiles, we will find money, not just aid".
So why do Patriots matter so much here?
Because they're one of the only things Ukraine has that can actually shoot Russian missiles and drones out of the sky before they land. And Ukraine has been warning for weeks that it's running low on them.
Now here's the twist.
Three days before this interview, Washington already approved selling Ukraine 500 Patriot missiles. The State Department confirmed it. Sounds like good news.
But Zelensky says delivery could take years.
A week before that, he'd already asked something different. Not new missiles. Just hand Ukraine some Patriots out of existing American and European stockpiles right now, and refill those stockpiles later once the new 500 show up.
So the approval exists on paper. The missiles themselves are nowhere close to Ukraine.
