Overview
Our Commitment
Zufron News is committed to providing accurate, responsible, fair and relevant journalism.
Our editorial decisions are guided by accuracy, verification, fairness, accountability and respect for individuals and communities.
Accuracy
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that information published by Zufron News is accurate and properly sourced.
Before publishing significant claims, our editorial team should seek appropriate verification and, where practical, confirmation from reliable sources.
Breaking news may initially contain incomplete information. When circumstances change, we will update our coverage as appropriate.
Sources
We aim to identify sources clearly wherever practical. The sources line at the foot of an article is shown only to members whose membership opens that article in full.
We may use:
- Official statements;
- Government and institutional sources;
- Direct interviews;
- Documents and records;
- Eyewitnesses;
- Expert sources;
- Reputable news organisations;
- Publicly available information.
Information from social media may be used only after appropriate verification and assessment of its reliability.
Anonymous Sources
We may use unnamed or anonymous sources when there is a legitimate editorial reason to protect the source's identity.
Anonymous information should not normally be published without appropriate verification.
Fairness and Right of Reply
Where a person, company or organisation is the subject of serious allegations or criticism, we will seek comment where reasonably practical.
If a relevant party declines to comment, we may state that they were contacted and did not provide a response.
Headlines
Headlines should accurately reflect the substance of an article.
We do not intentionally use misleading headlines or headlines that materially distort the underlying story.
Corrections and Updates
If we identify a significant factual error, we will correct it as appropriate.
We may also update stories as new information becomes available.
Our Corrections Policy explains how readers can report potential errors.
Privacy
We respect individuals' privacy.
Personal information should not be published merely because it is available. Publication should have a legitimate editorial justification and be consistent with applicable law and responsible journalism.
Particular care should be taken when reporting about children, victims, vulnerable individuals and people who have not voluntarily entered the public spotlight.
Images and Video
We aim to use photographs, video and other visual material accurately and lawfully.
We will not knowingly present an old or unrelated image as though it depicts a current event.
Where material is illustrative, archival, file or otherwise contextual, appropriate labelling may be used.
User-Generated Content
Comments, eyewitness submissions, photographs, videos and other material submitted by users may be reviewed before or after publication.
Publication of user-generated content does not necessarily mean that Zufron News endorses the views expressed by the contributor.
Opinions and Commentary
Opinion and commentary should be clearly distinguishable from straight news reporting.
Authors may express opinions in appropriate sections, but factual claims should still be responsibly sourced.
Conflicts of Interest
Members of the editorial team should disclose relevant conflicts of interest to the appropriate editorial decision-maker.
Editorial decisions should not be improperly influenced by personal, commercial or financial interests.
Advertising and Editorial Independence
Advertising and commercial relationships should not improperly influence editorial decisions.
Paid or sponsored material should be appropriately identified so that readers can distinguish it from independent editorial content.
AI and Technology
Zufron News uses artificial intelligence systems to produce its news coverage. Our articles are researched and written by AI systems working to our written editorial standards.
Each article is checked automatically against those standards before publication. An article that fails certain of these checks is held for a person to review; otherwise it is published without a person reading it first. The automatic checks are limited and cannot confirm that every statement in an article is accurate.
Members of our team can correct or withdraw an article after it has been published.
We will not knowingly present fabricated AI-generated material as authentic news material.
Editorial Accountability
Readers are encouraged to contact us if they believe an article contains a material factual error or otherwise raises a significant editorial concern to contact@zufron.com
We take legitimate corrections and complaints seriously.
